{a sympathy card}

Unfortunately we had a death in my husband's family last week, so I had a few sympathy cards to make. I wanted a simple card to make one night after I put my daughter to bed, so I based my design off of Laurie's card HERE. I just love her blog! I don't think my card is as pretty as hers, but I love going there for a little inspiration. I used a Basic Black base, along with some patterned paper from Graphic 45. I stitched around the edges with my sewing machine and black thread, then added some adhesive pearls from Hobby Lobby. I used a sentiment from Verve, embossed with black embossing powder and cut out with my Nestabilities Labels Nine. I believe I purchased the black ribbon from Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts. I finished the card off with some Sunflower Dew Drops and a few Prima flowers from my stash, as well as a button and thread.

{cards from april}

It's been so long since I've sat down and did an SCS challenge! Well I decided I would post some cards I made back in last month of freedom before Keira arrived! :) The above card uses some retired SU designer paper, along with the Soft Summer stamp set.
This card was actually an invitation to Mother's day brunch at our house....then it turned out that Keira was born the Friday before, so obviously I couldn't host the brunch :) I was busy in the hospital!
This card uses one of my Gina K stamp sets and my Copics...along with some of last year's SAB paper and ribbon.
My favorite one! This was for an SCS challenge. The thank you stamp is Hero Arts, and the paper and ribbon is Making Memories. Sorry I don't have specifics on all these but obviously they were made quite a few months ago. Hopefully I will get some crafting done this week, I finished my organization projects in my scraproom today. That always gives me a little extra motivation! And I'd like to get some Halloween cards done to send photos from the previous post out in also. Good night!

{happy halloween!}

Well ever since Keira arrived, I have been finding all sorts of ways to make excuses to take pictures! It's so fun to get different outfits and then scrapbook these pictures. :) And it doesn't hurt that she's so stinkin' cute either.....
My plan is to print some of these out and send them along with Halloween cards to family. I have been.......gasp! Buying cards lately! Aaah! I know, I know.....I have no time any more! Right now I am in the process of re-organizing my scrap room. I have sorted through all my buttons and ribbon and am working on my paper today. Trying to find the stuff I don't use and sell it, so hopefully once I am done with this organization project I can sit down to create a lot easier. I am just trying to make everything more functional so I have access to all my tools.
Of course I have tomorrow off for Columbus day (isn't it great working for the Federal Govt??), so Keira and I are taking a trip to IC to have lunch with one of my friends. A little baby clothes shopping is in store also....she is growing out of everything so fast!

I hope to get some of my pages posted this week that I did in Rockford back in September. They are some of my favorite ones so far. I have finally become comfortable with sewing on my layouts, so I have a feeling that very few won't include it from now on. Good night!

{pages - part one}

I recently did a weekend-long crop, and for 3 days of scrapping, I ended up with 13 pages to show for it. :) Doesn't seem like much, but it's way more than I would have gotten finished at home! The pages I'm posting today are all ultrasound photo pages. The page above uses 9 wallet size photos of the 20 week ultrasound. When we left the appointment, they provided us with a CD of all the images. How cool is that? Also, as you can tell, we were right in guessing the sex of the baby as well.

  • Patterned Paper - Stampin' Up; Cardstock - Papertrey Ink (light yellow), Stampin' Up (light pink and white) and Bazzill (green)
  • Chipboard Letters - Making Memories, Ribbon small heart punches and crochet flower - Stampin' Up, Border Punch - Martha Stewart, Scallop Circle - Nestabilities
  • Ink - Pink Pirouette by SU, Stamps - I'm Here by SU
I actually got the idea for the above layout from an issue of Creating Keepsakes. I just love the color combination of pink and brown!

  • Patterned Paper - SEI (background), Making Memories (ledger paper), Pink Polka Dot (Doodlebug), Cardstock by Stampin' Up
  • Small heart punch, scalloped border punch and crochet flowers - Stampin' Up, Ledger paper journaling block - Making Memories
  • Brown journaling pen - Stampin' Up, Brown felt letters - American Crafts Thickers
This is my favorite page, I think! I wanted to do gender-neutral colors, as this picture is from our 8-week ultrasound, and we obviously didn't know the sex of the baby then. This picture is so important to me. After having a miscarriage last year, the peace my heart felt after seeing the baby's heart beating on the screen was priceless. I will never forget the look on Adam's face either. :)

  • Patterned Paper - Basic Grey, Lined patterned paper - Scenic Route, Cardstock - Stampin' Up
  • Border punch and small butterfly punch - Martha Stewart, Butterfly die cuts - Nestabilities, Ribbon and heart punch - Stampin' Up, Letters - Thickers by American Crafts
Hopefully I listed all the supplies! If you have any specific questions, leave me a comment. Thanks for stopping by!

{like it a latte}

This is the birthday card that I sent my friend Lindsey last month.

The base of this card is Chocolate Chip, layered with Kraft and Riding Hood Red DP from the Candy Lane pack. I stamped the mug from Like it a Latte in Close to Cocoa on Very Vanilla, then used my SAMJ to stamp over it with Versamark, then embossed with clear embossing powder. This panel is layered on Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip. Also used the ticket corner punch and some vintage brads.

The sentiment is stamped with Chocolate Chip, then punched out with the 1 1/2" circle punch. This was layered on the scalloped circle. The brown organdy ribbon was purchased online at Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts. I also used the Heart to Heart punch for the small heart embellishments.

Thanks for looking!

{puns from the past}

When I saw this set in the catalog last time, I knew I had to have it. Sadly enough, I haven't stamped with it since I got it a few months ago! I decided to use it for this week's sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

The base of this card is Baja Breeze, stamped with the canvas background. I stamped the buggies in Celery, Saffron and Baja, then punched out and matted on Basic Black. The DP is Making Memories, as is the ribbon.

I also used some burlap string from Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts with one of my Kraft corduroy buttons. I stamped the sentiment on Amethyst and punched out with the wide oval punch.

This will go to my friend who is about 12 weeks pregnant. Doesn't know yet whether it's a boy or girl, of course, so I hope it's gender-neutral! :)

Thanks for looking!

{it's been awhile!}

Well, seems it's been about 6 months since I posted last! A lot has happened, too. :) For starters, Adam and I are about 12 weeks away from having a baby girl! The due date is May 20th. Hence the baby shower invitation above. My aunts, mom and sister are planning the shower, but I offered to make the invitations. I had to go on ebay to buy this SU set, I'm Here, because it's retired. But I just had to have it for these! The little footprints are so sweet. :)

I recently attended a weekend long crop at a B&B during the first part of February, so I have a lot of scrapbook pages to post. I've also been busy making cards for the past few weeks, so look for more regular posting from now on..... :) Famous last words, right?

Stamps - I'm Here, Nursery Necessities and coordinating wheel
Paper - Kraft, Pink Pirouette, Almost Amethyst, Whisper White, Lemon Tart (PTI)
Ink - Pink Pirouette, Lemon Tart (PTI), Basic Black
