Crate Paper Home Decor - After Dark

Hello and welcome to the blog today! I am going to share a project I have been working on for the last few days - a Halloween table for my dining room. I used the Crate Paper After Dark collection for this and it was perfect! Let's take a look.

I knew I wanted to make some prints to hang on the wall, so I grabbed the Minc After Dark 8x10 prints and a few rolls of foil. Here I am using purple and orange.

I decided to go with purple foil on the white print, and orange foil on the black. The foil with stick to any part of the paper that's laser printed, so on the Trick or Treat paper - just the wording will be foiled purple.

Using the Minc is so easy. You simply place your foil on top of the design, then stick it inside the plastic sleeve. Run it through the machine and you're done!

Here's a look at the Halloween print - hopefully you can get a sense of how pretty the orange foil is!

I had picked up this black tabletop tree at the craft store and knew it needed a little extra something. I used the patterned papers from After Dark to make a garland. Making one of these is really simple. Just take a few punches and punch shapes out of the patterned paper. You then run them through your sewing machine one after the other to make a garland. Super easy!

I also got a chance to use the black cat string of lights from the After Dark collection. My kids helped me punch the lights through the black cats, then I simply used a few gold thumbtacks to attach the strand to my wall.

I also created a few more embellishments and touches for the table. I collect vintage typewriters and wanted to incorporate one into the table, so I simply put a piece of patterned paper through the roller. Doing this is so fun since you can see both sides of the paper. I also picked up a few fun pumpkins from the craft store to add as well.

I had this orange frame in my scraproom that I wasn't using for anything, so I simply added a piece of patterned paper to it along with some chipboard embellishments from the collection. Super simple and fast!

I also added a vase with some orange ball ornaments as well as a pumpkin trick-or-treat bucket. My kids keep asking me where the candy is :)

And here's the final product! I really like how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by the blog today, and I hope you're getting ready for Halloween!

Crate Paper After Dark - Halloween

"This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Jennifer Chapin. I do receive financial compensation and material product from American Crafts to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own."
This week it's Embellishment Week on the Crate Paper blog! Today I am sharing a pocket spread using the new After Dark collection. Let's take a look!

It was so easy to make a spread highlighting embellishments from this collection, because there are so many great ones! Here you can see how I took a few of the pieces from the ephemera pack and clipped them to my photo with an orange paper clip from the collection. You can also see a shot of the glitter Thickers - so cool!

One of my favorite ways to include embellishments in pocket pages is to use stitching. For this pocket, I added some sequins to the pocket, as well as a piece of the wood veneer and ephemera. I simply stitched the pocket closed and shook it a little to distribute the pieces. You can also do this with glitter - super fun!

I also got a chance to use the Minc along with a few of the After Dark Minc embellishments. Here you can see I foiled the spiderweb piece with gold foil and added it to my photo along with a wood veneer spider.

Here you can see how I used the Minc to add purple foil to one of the embellishment pieces. Such a great addition to the card!

And here's the whole spread. I just love how it turned out! I can't wait to use this collection to scrap my Halloween photos from this year.

Have a great day!

Warm Colors with Crate Paper

"This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Jennifer Chapin. I do receive financial compensation and material product from American Crafts to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own."
Hello! This week is Warm Colors week on the Crate Paper blog. Fall is right around the corner and we are gearing up with some fun projects. Have you seen the new After Dark collection yet? I love all the embellishments packed in this one!

I decided to create a fall themed (not Halloween!) layout using some of the warm colored hues in the collection. Fall is my favorite time of year and last week here, it was a little cooler so we took advantage and had some soup and pumpkin spice lattes.

I incorporated shades of orange, purple black and cream into my layout. I started with a piece of the orange chevron patterned paper cut to 8.5x11, then layered a piece of plain vellum over it to tone down the pattern. Next I added my photos to a piece of striped patterned paper and adhered my title below.

The ephemera pack in the After Dark collection contains orange paper clips - how fun is that? I just love them. I added one of those to my photo collage as well as some star and wood veneer ephemera.

Here is the completed layout! I finished it off with a few label stickers beneath the title that hold my jounaling. Hopefully you can get your hands on this collection soon! I can't wait to create some Halloween projects with it.

Have a great day!
