{it's almost here!}

....December that is. I can hardly believe it! It feels like just a short while ago we were celebrating our first Christmas with Keira.....and while I don't think she totally 'gets' it yet, I think she'll have a lot of fun opening all her gifts. She's getting a baby doll with a bottle (and it cries!), a toy shopping cart, a Sesame Street story reader, and a princess tent. She should be all set! I can't wait to see her with this little baby doll. It's going to be so freakin' cute. :)

This weekend I hauled up all four (yes, four, how did we get four??) Christmas trees from the basement and got to work decorating them.

Adam did not help, however, Keira did try to put a little string cheese on the tree.

I do need to get some pictures taken of the tree at night, but I'm saving that for my December Daily ;)

I did these stockings last year with all our names on them....of course using scrapping supplies...hehe.

All in all, decorating for Christmas is kind of a royal pain in the ass, but SO worth it once it's all done. Don't you think?

Keira even helped to put the first gift under the tree....too cute.

These are a few of my favorite ornaments. I used to decorate my tree with a theme....for example, all purple or something like that. Now we have so many miscellaneous ornaments that I like it better just doing a mish-mash of everything! I don't care if it's magazine worthy or not. ;) I'm a sentimental sap though. Just our ornaments and a few gold and silver balls, that's about it. And I humored Adam and got colored lights this year. He insists that's all he had as a child and they're WAY more fun. lol.

We had a good lazy day on Sunday....along with decorating the tree I got my cooking done for the week.....along with some banana nut muffins. And this cranberry white cheddar is fantastic! I actually got it at Aldi of all places. :)

I made ham noodle casserole for supper. This is comfort food to me because it reminds me of being a little girl...my mom would make it for us. Along with crescent rolls. Basically it is egg noodles, ham and peas; make a white sauce and add Velveeta. Mix it all up and bake it. yum! Adam likes it very well too, and so does Keira! My mom never used to put peas in it, but I do once in awhile if I have some in the freezer to use up.

 I made apple crisp for dessert....along with some homemade whipped cream. YUM. I've never made homemade whipped cream before, but I can say I'll be making it again! Easy and a lot better than cool whip ;)

Come back tomorrow for a Christmas themed layout....hope you have a good night. We got our first snow of the season today, just a little dusting. Enough to remind us that winter's finally coming!

{more baby}

Yet another baby shower this past weekend! My cousin and his wife just had their baby girl last week, she is too cute :) My grandparent's second great grandchild!

It was so funny, the whole time Keira kept saying, "ooooooooh, it's a beeebeee!!" She is in the stage right now where she loves all things baby :)
One of my favorite pictures..... (that's my mom holding Keira)

My most favorite picture ;)

I of course used my new favoritest Thickers.....charcoal Lullaby. I have two packages and if I see more, I'm snatching them up! lol.

I put together a little gift basket complete with burp cloths, a bib, two sets of jammies and some lotion and baby wash....along with the card. I used Stampin' Up patterned paper and stamp, Heidi Swapp chipboard heart and made a tag from cardstock and vellum that I stitched together.

Here's to a season of babies......and kinda glad there's not a new one in my house right now. Heehee. :)

{oh baby}

My sister and I went to a baby shower yesterday....I think baby cards are one of my favorite to make!

I love this color combination of soft yellow, green and pink for a baby girl.

I have actually had this card sitting around in my stash for quite some time, I think I originally made it for a card swap. The stamp is by SU, but I can't remember the name of the set now; it's retired. Lots of layers too, and corners punched with the ticket punch.

I put together this tag today for the outside of the gift. I used one of my manila shipping tags from Staples as a template, then stitched around the edges of the pink layer. The yellow circle is embossed using the Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder. I also pulled out my butterfly punch and layered some vellum with patterned paper.

Hope you have a great week.....I actually have another baby shower to go to this coming weekend. My cousin and his wife should be having their baby by tomorrow (she's getting induced), and they didn't find out the sex but I think I'll wait til after the baby is born to make her card so it can be gender appropriate. :)

{a little helper}

Of course my scraproom is like a playground for Keira.....lots of bottles to play with, markers to sort, stickers to use....etc :).  The other day when she woke up from her nap I guess she thought I needed my paints reorganized.

I've been trying to work with her on counting...."one, two, three".  Instead she says, "one, one, one, one...". It cracks Adam and me up.  This morning before her nap she colored me a "picture" and you can bet I'll be including that on a scrapbook page sometime soon ;)

These are a few layouts I did over at my friend Michelle's house a few weekends ago.

I think Keira's room is my favorite one in the whole house.....mostly because I had a lot of time to decorate it and thoughtfully pick out each decoration.

This patterned paper is by Doodlebug....I picked it up awhile back knowing that it would be perfect for some little girl pages.

This layout is one of my favorites....I just love these loopy letter stickers, they are by Doodlebug as well and I finally got my hands on 4 packs of them! Black, pink and brown.

Here we go again with the Thickers......I also punched hearts out of patterned paper and stitched over them down the page.

I know this Taylor Swift song is a romantic one....but I love the phrase and I think it sums up Keira pretty perfectly. ;)

{at 18 months}

You are getting to be quite the talker! I have lost track of all the words you can say now...you are always asking "what's that?" or exclaiming, "it's a ____!!"

You can recognize some numbers and letters -- 2, 8, and 10; b, o, and s. You have ABC and number flashcards that you love playing with. You have two puzzles, one with 1-10 numbers and one with animals that you can put together all by yourself!

You're eating half a banana for bedtime snack most nights. You call it "baaanaaaa". After your bedtime bottle of milk you usually lay in the crook of my arm and whisper, "niiii niiii". Makes me melt. ♥

You love to go 'bye-bye'. When you find out we're going somewhere, you get your coat and shoes and bring them to either daddy or me. Then you run around shouting "bye!!!! bye!! bye!!!" before we leave.

You can recognize and say daddy "daahheee", mommy "maahhee", grandpa "papa", grandma "maamaa" and Hunter "Haaaahher". Although sometimes you call me daddy. I'll look past it for now. :)

You love to hear me sing the ABC song, you call it "Beee Ceees", and you clap at the end. It's too cute.

Whenever you want something that we're eating you shout, "bite! bite!"

I think you might eat almost anything if it's dipped in ketchup.

Your hair is getting longer but we haven't got it cut yet. I would LOVE to put it in a ponytail or barrette, but you are not too keen on leaving those in....! ;)

You are in love with stickers "duckers", putting them on me....daddy...your shirt.....the toilet seat....the kitchen floor.....you know.

Even though it's getting cooler you still love being outside. You're getting good at steps now too and can climb up and down the ones on our deck all by yourself.

You're pretty good at eating with a fork now, although you still need help at times. You like trying to eat applesauce or yogurt out of a bowl with a spoon too, though that's a little messier!

You are more than everything I ever hoped for; you are my biggest blessing. I love you, Keira.

{december daily!}

When I heard Ali Edwards talking about her December Daily on the Paperclipping Roundtable, the thought entered my mind that maybe I should do one this year. I pushed it aside for awhile, but this weekend I started in on it. Thanksgiving isn't much in the way of scrapbooking (besides a few decorations I want to make), so I am ready to be done with Halloween for awhile and move on to Christmas!

Basically I am following Ali's lead on the 6" x 8" album that's bound with jump rings. You can see that post on her blog HERE. I also purchased these 6x8 printables for my album.  I have to say, the pages I've done so far are coming together rather quickly....just working since Saturday and I'm already up to number 16! I love the idea of completing the album ahead of time, then all you have to worry about is writing in it and filling it with pictures!

Here is my cover.

I cut a piece of thin chipboard 6" x 8" and used Mono Aqua liquid glue to attach my patterned paper (October Afternoon). I embellished a Maya Road envelope and glued that on, but not before edging the kraft with some white ink. Love that look.

Adam's grandma crochets these snowflakes, and they are so pretty I decided to include one on the cover. I also sprayed a Heidi Swapp chipboard heart with Chalk Glimmer Mist and glittered it up.

Silver letters are by Making Memories, the red scripted letters are ones that I have had in my stash for.ev.er - they are from the Basic Grey June Bug line.

On the inside of the front cover I decided to use the Christmas story from the book of Luke. Because I never want that to get lost in the hustle and bustle and gift buying of the holiday season. "1" page is white cardstock with gold glittered polka dots, stitched on a piece of corrugated cardboard and embellished with a Thicker and some pinking shears.

"2" is mounted on a Hambly transparency, and the number card is from Elle's Studio Vintage Mix and Match numbers. I stitched across it for added strength; I don't want this thing to fall apart. :)

"3" is a sheet of Stampin' Up heavy kraft cardstock (retired and no longer available) that I stitched around the edges with red thread. Three card is by Sassafrass Lass, snowflake punch by Martha Stewart.

"4" is  mounted on October Afternoon patterned paper, with a strip of The Girls Paperie Tinsel and Twig stitched on top. "noel" stamp by SU, tag by Elle's studio.

"5" is mounted on a piece of navy polka dotted vellum - SU (retired and no longer available), Tag by Elle's and stamp from Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for looking tonight; I have a lot more pages to share but am hitting the sack as tomorrow is Monday. Hope you have a great week!

I thought this morning I would get to sleep in....but miss Keira decided to wake up at 4am, then again at 6:30! Oh well, I went to bed at a decent time last night so I wasn't too tired. I prepped the ingredients for this sausage casserole last night, and baked it off this morning. Turned out really good! I cut the recipe in half and only had to bake it for 35 minutes. I also substituted cubed cream cheese for cottage cheese (I didn't have any) and green onions for regular onions.

Yesterday I got off work a little early and made a Hobby Lobby/Memories on 5th run. I picked up some new Thickers, and some OA paper -- Seaside and Schoolhouse.

MME lost and found glitter paper, Bo Bunny winter joy cut outs, Webster's pages snowflake paper and letter stickers, and a big red Jenni Bowlin rub on butterfly.

Hawkeye paper, WeRMemory Keepers Thanksgiving paper, MME halloween paper, diecut tags, a color catcher and a LYB black haunted house mini album.

Hoping my Elle's Studio order comes today, I ordered their new advent calendar, as well as some misc other goodies ;)

This is a layout I made last year, but it's one of my faves and I don't think I've shared it here yet. It's sort of a tradition for Adam and I to take a little weekend trip for our birthdays each year, and last year we went to Des Moines to see Journey!

I used my sewing machine and an extra page protector to create a pocket for my memorabilia. Patterned paper is by America Crafts.

The lined paper is some antique ledger paper from my stash.

I think I made this layout when I was home recovering from surgery. The patterned paper is by Pink Paislee, and I also used a card from The Paper Loft (a girl and her dog).

I piled on the Primas and also used a PP Artisan flourish that I inked.

Envelope by Maya Road, corduroy brad by Stampin Up.

I used some Prima rhinestone flourishes at the top of the page, and also did some splattering with Tattered Leaves glimmer mist.

Well, I am off to make some lunch for the crew, watch the football game, then head out of town for dinner and to find a winter coat for Keira....thinking about this one, since it comes with snow pants!
