Let's Get Digital - Citrus Twist Kits

jenchapin_ctk July kits (14)
Hey everyone and happy Saturday! As soon as I saw the 5"x7" wood veneer sheet in July's main kit, I knew what I had to do. I had to cut it with my Cameo.

I decided to go with a star pattern becuase I wanted to use the negative as well as the positive space. You can actually download the cut file for your own star pattern here!

Some tips for cutting wood veneer in the Cameo:
  • Set your blade depth to 6 or 7. You will need to use the plastic ratchet to do this.
  • Set your cutting speed to low.
  • Use the double cut feature. This will have the blade cut each shape twice, ensuring a clean edge.
  • Make sure your mat is very sticky. If it's not, use some washi tape to hold the edges of the wood down before you cut.
See that heart piece of patterned paper up there? That's actually covering a spot where the Cameo didn't quite do it's job. I think the blade got caught in a section of the wood grain and there was a wonky star that ended up getting cut. It's ok. Just cover it up and move on. :)

I also wanted to showcase the awesome July add-on stamp. April Joy helped design these with her fabulous calligraphy. I stamped directly on the photo with black ink. It almost looks like I added these words in photoshop but nope, it's a stamp! Love them.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you try this technique with your Cameo soon!

Our Kit + Your Stash with Elle's Studio

Hello and welcome to another round of Our Kit + Your Stash! Jen here, and this is what I pulled from my stash to create a layout with my July Kit. I chose grey and white cardstock, a few assorted patterned papers, enamel dots, chipboard frames, washi, letter stickers, a large white tag and some chipboard embellishments.

Here is what was left of my July kit. When I said before that I almost used the whole thing I was serious! It really is an awesome kit.

And here's my completed layout. I printed my photos sized down so they would fit into the chipboard frames.

The speech bubble tag was perfect for my title.

The whole page was really inspired by this Let's GO tag. So perfect for those summer vacations.

And that's it for today! Hopefully we have inspired you to pull out your last kit and get to scrapping! Have a great week!

Make Your own Mood Board with Glitz Design

Hi everyone! Today I am showing you how to make a mood board for your own home. This is an idea that I've had in my head for quite awhile and finally was able to make it a reality.

I started with a bulletin board that I picked up at Target for less than $10. I gathered some Glitz supplies -- patterned paper, stickers, embellishments, washi tape, and cards. I also pulled together some vintage supplies that I picked up at a thrift store. The large "4" as well as a few of the tags are ones that I found at Hunt and Gather in Minneapolis. If you are ever around that area, you have to go. It is fabulous!

I started out by arranging some of the larger elements on the board while it was lying on the floor. The two flair buttons are ones that I picked up at Urban Outfitters.

I had such a fun time pulling out all my Glitz collections. The Whatnots packages were great for embellishing, and I used some of the Bits & Pieces paper too.

I used a mix of push pins, stick pins and binder clips to attach elements to the board.

A few closeups.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you try this soon. It was a really fun project to create and I can't wait to hang it up in my scraproom!

Halloween Magic from Bella Blvd!

This is the new Halloween collection from Bella Blvd. Isn't it fab!?

I had been waiting for the perfect collection to document last year's Halloween photos and Halloween Magic is just the one! The colors are bright and totally showed off my pictures. I used my die cutting machine to cut circles into the Ghosties patterned paper, then had fun layering my photos and more patterned paper behind. The chipboard embellishments are super fun too.

Elle's Studio Monthly Kit - July 2014

Hey there! It's time again for another awesome release from Elle's Studio! This is a fabulous summery kit, and there is a new stamp and coordinating cut files as well.

You can see here how I used the new stamp on that colored grid card, as well as the random stamp on the photo of Connor.

There is also an awesome warehouse sale going on!

Here is the PL spread I created using just the tag kit, stamp set and a few pieces of patterned paper and wood veneer/enamel dots. I can't believe I used almost all of the kit. It is that awesome!

I am trying out some different sizes of PL page protectors and loving the change in the square photos.

Be sure to grab your kit before the price goes up! $9.99 today only :)

Happy 4th of July with Glitz Design

Happy Fourth of July to you today! I'm sharing a card and tag I made with a patriotic theme. I pulled out all my Glitz supplies and chose those that were red, white and blue. We are having a party at our house this year on the 4th, how cute would these little sacks be to hand out to guests? They could be filled with cookies, popcorn, or red white and blue candies.

For the card base I layered some patterned papers and stitched the edges for added texture. I used some red washi and covered white cardstock with it, then punched out with a star punch.

I pulled a red tag from my stash and added some string to the top. I punched out some patterned paper, added a sticker from the Brightside collection and some enamel dots. Clip it to the bag with a mini clothespin and you're done! Easy peasy.

Hope you are inspired to create some cute packaging this summer! Happy 4th and have a great weekend!
