Spring into Color with Crate Paper

Hello! Jennifer Chapin here today, and I am super excited to be contributing to Crate's "Spring Into Color" theme this week. Lately I have been so inspired by bright colors, so I decided to make my own sort of inspiration board using some colored clipboards and items from my scrapbooking stash.

I gathered up some elements.....pink, yellow and blue. Some of these items are new and some are vintage.

I also included some paints as part of the color spectrum.

Clips, thread and buttons found their way into my inspiration photo as well.

Here is the layout I created using the color inspiration photo. I used the new Poolside collection for this project. The colors were perfect! I used a color grouping technique and kept elements within their color for a tone-on-tone effect.  Let's take a look at the individual colors.

Pink - this palette is bright and fun, drawing a few different shades of pink together.

I pulled in pink tags, stickers, enamel and chipboard to complete the look.

Layering up these elements was so much fun. I also got to use one of the new chipboard frames, these are my favorite.

Next up, yellow. So bright and warm. My favorite accent color for scrapbooking!

This was my favorite section to create! I used a few die cuts as well as the gold glitter sun found in the ephemera pack. I was also able to incorporate the yellow clip from my inspiration photo.

Another fun sticker about flip flops. So perfect for those summer photos!

And last but not least....blue. Well, this palette is more of a blue-green, but I stuck with a more traditional blue color scheme for my project.

The patterns in this collection are so fun. These blue pieces look like water! So neat. I also added in some wood enamel dots, a pinwheel, acetate, and some stickers.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Crate Paper blog! I hope you can get your hands on some of the new Poolside collection. It really is great to create with using those summer photos. Have a great day!

Crate Paper Journey

Hello hello! Today I'm sharing a travel themed layout using the new Journey collection by Crate Paper. It's just perfect for documenting vacations, road trips, and anything in between! A few years ago, we went to Las Vegas for my 30th birthday. It was such a fun getaway, and we got to go with friends and had a blast. Believe it or not, I have not documented too many photos from this trip! I started a mini album with good intentions, but it is still sitting on my shelf about half done. I thought I would dig out a few photos to pair with this collection and make a 12x12 layout.

Recently, I purchased a Fujifilm Instax printer. I have one of the cameras which is fun too, but this appealed to me as I could print photos that were previously taken on my phone. This printer is even small enough that you could take it on a trip with you and scrap on the go. How fun would that be? I found a few photos from my trip and transferred them over to my iPhone.

There are a lot of vacations when I don't even take my big camera with me. Depending on where we are going, many times it is much easier to just take my phone and not quite as intrusive. Don't get me wrong, I love the photos I get from my DSLR. But especially now with all the new editing apps, the iPhone is great too. And you know the saying.....the best camera is the one you have with you. So don't let that deter you from taking pictures on your next trip!

After I printed my photos, I started on the page. I knew that I wanted to use the big chalkboard letter stickers from the Journey collection. I used a ruler and a pencil to draw an even line across the page, then placed my letters on that as a guide. I later erased the pencil line. I also mixed some fonts by adding some of the beige Thickers from this collection.

After my title was complete, I added my photos and started filling the page with bits and pieces. I used chipboard, ephemera die cuts, vellum and wood veneer from the collection, working from the title and around the page.

Here is the completed layout! I love how it turned out. I even got to use one of the adorable gold chipboard states from the collection and added an enamel star where Las Vegas its.

As you can see with all the different textures this makes for a really striking page. The white background is also nice as it doesn't compete with any of the colors or elements that I used.

I hope by now you have gotten your hands on some of this great collection and scrapbooked some of your own vacation photos. If you have projects please link them up in the comments, I would love to see them.

Thank you for coming by and have a great day!

Elle's Studio April Kit

Hey there! A new monthly kit by Elle's Studio was released on April 10th, isn't it pretty? You can pick up this kit at the Elle's Studio shop along with lots of other goodies.

Also make sure you check out the cut file and printable too!

I created this layout using the kit along with the new Cienna collection. I used my 2" circle punch and punched circles from the different patterned papers, then layered them up with tags from the collection and April kit.

The word stickers that are out right now are some of my favorite embellishments ever. I love using them for titles.

I also created this pretty Mother's Day card using the kit along with the Cienna collection.

I used some enamel dots, a paper clip and stitching for texture.

Thank you so much for stopping by and make sure you pick up this fab kit before they are all sold out! I am looking forward to making some PL spreads with it too :)

Easter Projects with Crate Paper Craft Market

Hello hello! Jennifer Chapin here, and today's Crate blog projects are all about Easter. It's just around the corner! It seems to have come much sooner this year, and here in the Midwest it has even been to chilly to hunt eggs! I created this layout using a photo of my kids from last year's Easter morning. They are always so excited to wake up and find out what is in their baskets, and we also hide eggs throughout the house. The Easter bunny even brought them their very own bunny ears!

I started out with a sheet of white cardstock and cut a 6" strip of the floral pattern from Craft Market. I knew I wanted to keep this side of the page simple due to the busy floral pattern.

I matted my photo on a sheet of neutral patterned paper, then added the title underneath with Memo Thickers from the Craft Market collection. These letters are so beautiful! I also added some more chipboard embellishments to round out this part of the layout. The bunny topped mason jar was also a perfect addition to this page. Who knew Craft Market was so versatile?

A technique I always seem to fall back on is typed journaling. I used the same color of white cardstock as my background, then typed the journaling on my typewriter and adhered to the page. I added chipboard diamonds from the Craft Market collection chipboard embellishment sheet as well.

Next up, a cute treat bag and Easter card. I used Craft Market as well on these projects; the linen bags are perfect for a quick gift for any occasion.

To make the card, I used a piece of smooth white cardstock and added a strip of patterned paper and stitching to the bottom. I then added chipboard letters as well as a happy sticker. I carefully added some pink mist droplets to the top of the card, then punched white butterflies and adhered to the card with tiny glue dots.

The result is a simple card that makes a big impact! Anyone would love to receive a card like this. I love the subtle dimension that the tone on tone butterflies create.

And a quick look at the tag on my linen sack. I simply embellished with a sticker and some enamel dots, then added a glittered mini clothespin from the Craft Market collection. Since the sticker did not say what I needed it to, I quickly typed out a sentiment and punched it with a 1" circle punch, adding it to my sticker. This works great for any use and you can customize stickers for any theme!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. Have a great week!
